We
carefully dismantle and salvage beams
and timbers from 18th-and 19th-century structures slated for
demolition. A portion of this material is set aside for decorative
uses, such as exposed beams and mantles.
Years of aging and exposure to the
elements have given this historic
material a marvelous, rich patina that cannot be found in new wood. The
surface of each beam is unique and one-of-a-kind: subtle color
variations, mortise pockets, surface checking, bolt and nail holes are
some of the characteristics of antique beams.
We offer three surface choices in our antique beams:

Old Surface
Retaining the original surface
texture and color developed through a century of exposure to the
elements.

Hand-Hewn
Retaining the original axe marks used to square the beam
from a fallen tree.

Re-sawn
We mill the beams to your specifications, sawing off the
old surface for a precisely squared beam that exposes the grain of the
wood.
